Super six for in-form Berkhamsted sides on a winning weekend

Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club enjoyed an excellent set of results at the weekend, with six wins, two draws and just one defeat from Saturday's nine games.

The men’s second XI continued their winning start to 2016 as man of the match Matt Prowse in spired them to a great 3-2 victory against Royston 1s.

While they remain bottom of the league, they are catching the other teams rapidly after two wins in two games.

The men’s 5s also deserve special mention after a wonderful 3-2 win against Harpenden who are near the top of the league.

Man of the match was young goalkeeper Joe Devey who made several key saves that ensured Berko came away with all three points.

The men’s 3s won 4-1 against St Albans thanks to goals from Amish Adodra (2), James Godsell and Will Hanwell. Man of the match was Mark Johnson.

The men’s 4s drew 3-3 with St Albans as Kyle Purkiss scored a brace on his debut, whith man of the match going to Richard Korn.

The men’s 1s lost the only game of the day as they went down 5-1 against West Herts, but the ladies’ 1s had a great 6-1 win against Letchworth to stay third in the league table.

The ladies’ 2s edged a narrow 1-0 win against bottom of the league Potters Bar, while the ladies’ 3s made the long trip to St Neots and did brilliantly to come back from 2-0 down at half-time to salvage a 2-2 draw at the end of the game.

Royston conceded their game against the ladies’ fourth team on Friday night, meaning Berko were awarded a 3-0 walkover victory and three points.
