Shield of dreams for the unstoppable Little Hay ladies

The Little Hay team of Elaine Meagher, Linda Reeve, Pauline Manning and Linda Cusick triumphed for the second year in a row by winning the NAPGC Whitewebbs Golden Jubilee Shield.

A total of 24 teams from public golf courses had entered the tournament – the final, between the top four teams, was played at Stevenage on Sunday.

Little Hay won with a score of 116 Stableford points, beating Rose Hill (113), Hoebridge (110) and Trent Park (108).

Meanwhile, It was medal time at Little Hay last week, which meant strict stroke play off full handicap.

The fine weather and the excellent state of the course, not to mention the skill of the players, resulted in some fine scores including a gross 72 by Nick Jefferson and gross 73 by Stephen Wilkinson from the par 72 men’s tees, and a gross 76 by Elaine Meagher from the par 73 ladies’ tees.
