A real medal haul for the Hemel Hempstead speedsters

A mighty haul of 13 club records, 59 medals and 158 PBs marked a stunningly successful weekend for Hemel swimmers at the Harpenden Legacy and Maxwell Open meets.

A team of 69 swimmers entered 220 events in the two competitions and, with more than 70 per cent of swims producing PBs, it was a very productive weekend.

Of the 13 new club records set, some had been standing for more than eight years and some were broken by two people in the same event.

Congratulations go to Aimee Abrey, Josh Gaines, Emily Jelfs, Lois Moore, Charlie Rayner, Grace Rayner, Tom Sherrifff, Paige Wilding and Freddie Woodcock, while a special mention must go to Moore who set three records from four swims.

Of the 59 medals, 15 were gold and these were won by Gaines, Jelfs, Charlie Rayner, Grace Rayner, Sherriff, Wilding, and Freddie Woodock – with a special mention for Hemel Hempstead SC head coach Justin Langford’s gold in the 16 and over 50m freestyle.
