Chesham’s first annual cycling sportive – delivered in association with headline sponsors Chartridge Venues – will again be hosted by Chartridge Primary School.

In addition to the 60 and 30-mile routes offered in 2014, a 75-mile option has been added for anyone wanting to experience an extra tough challenge through the rolling Chiltern countryside.

All three routes provide an excellent way to enjoy the local scenery, meet new riders and raise money for the school.

With more than 300 riders signing up in 2014, a total of £4,000 was raised for the school; and the team of parents organising the event hope to beat that total in this year.

In addition to the cash, hi-visibility jackets have also been given to every child at the school to encourage safe cycling.

Everyone who takes part in this year’s event can look forward to a clearly signed route, a well-stocked lunch stop, a text-based timing service, event photographs and a goody-bag. To sign up go to www.ridechartridge.com.

The school will again host a kids’ festival on the day, which will include a 30-foot climbing wall, a bicycle obstacle course and bouncy castles.

The Ride Chartridge team welcomes interest from volunteers who would like to get involved and help support the event. Please email [email protected].

Event organiser Richard Bassett said: “After the success of 2014, and all the positive feedback we received from all the riders, we are looking forward to putting on a bigger and better event in 2015.”

Chartridge School headteacher Steve Butler added: “Last year’s event helped to build interest in cycling among our pupils and we can’t wait to see Ride Chartridge return in 2015.

“We’re really excited to host a high profile cycle sportive that encourages riders and families from across the area to have a great day out and support the school.”
