December saw a flurry of competition activity at Tring Swimming Club, as squad members worked hard towards PBs and county qualifying times.

First up was the Tring Closed Championships, where a staggering 458 swims achieved a total of 268 PBs, 37 sub-county qualifying times and one regional time.

Special mentions to everyone who swam a 400m, as there were some impressive PBs.

In addition, individuals from a wide age rang, managed to improve PBs across all, or most, of their events – congratulations to: Molly Bradley, Rosie Cave, Alicia Denton-Sparke, Oliver Denton-Sparke, Christopher Hughes, Faith McNamara, Finlay Miles, Michael Renkel and Pippi Stangoe.

Tring Club Champs is a key social event, guaranteed to get Sportspace buzzing, with the club paying thanks to Paul Mazey for his impressive organisation and willing fleet of volunteers who made it all possible.

Tring Swimming Club were then back in action for Round 3 of the National Arena League in Dagenham.

Fighting hard in Division Two, competition was tough and the team did well to finish seventh on 221 points, with only three points separating fifth to seventh positions.

However, leaders Cheshunt were a long way ahead on 356.

Tring’s Tom Frewin gained first in both the Open 200IM and Open 100m breaststroke.

Second positions were achieved by Emma Killlin (12-13 100m breast), Josh Frewin (open 100m back) and Chloe Woodruff (12-13 100m fly), while thirds went to Georgie Scott, Tom Frewin and the 12-13 girls’ 4x50m freestyle relay squad (Molly, Chloe, Marcia and Brianna).

A special mention also goes to Harrison Bullock for his third place in the 12-13 boys’ 100m back; also a 1.36s PB.

Tring Swimming Club will be back in action at the Watford County Qualifier on January 17th/18.
