Bovingdon CC’s season ended with a home defeat to Sarratt in a friendly fixture on Sunday.

Early wickets for Andy Woodward (1-17) and Tony Shand (2-8) had the visitors in trouble at 20-3, but some hard hitting from the determined Sarratt middle order saw their run rate climb rapidly.

Two wickets apiece for Sean Gatehouse and Gavin Ivey, as well as one for Toby Brown and Paul Fidler, helped to bowl the away side out for a total of 223 before tea.

Bovingdon’s reply never gathered any momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals, and only Luke Stickland (22) and Nick Baxter (10) made double figures as they were bowled out for a paltry total of 61.
