The Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club ladies’ second team have added to the club’s successes this season by winning the title.
In truth, it was somewhat of an anti-climax as Saffron Walden conceded the title decider very late on, but nonetheless Berko can be proud of their unbeaten season.
Elsewhere, the ladies’ third XI had a rather satisfying end to their season with a 3-0 win against Letchworth, while the men’s second team played their last game of the campaign against St Albans.
Berko made changes to their usual starting line-up, but they still romped to a 5-1 victory with goals from Julian Laxon, Ollie Bowman, Morris Moorhouse and Thomas Moorhouse.
Meanwhile, the men’s fourths had their chance for promotion dashed in the last game of the season as Rickmansworth won 2-1 to take the third promotion place.
Despite this, the team have had an excellent season and can look forward to September with some confidence.
The only other game to be played on Saturday saw the men’s fifth XI beaten 3-1 against a Southgate Development team in a friendly.
Attention now turns to the club’s Summer League that runs from the start of May to the end of August.
The league is open to non-members and members alike, with games taking place on Wednesday nights from 7pm. For further information, please visit www.berkohockeyclub.com
