As part of a series of events to commemorate this year’s Rugby World Cup, Hemel Hempstead Camelot RUFC has announced plans to host a team-building event for local businesses.
The inaugural adult tag rugby tournament will take place on Saturday, September 12 at the club’s home ground in Chaulden Lane, Hemel Hempstead.
Camelot’s director of rugby and local business owner Paul Maddison said: “Tag rugby is a fun, non-contact version of the game suitable for men and women of all ages and abilities and is an excellent way to help build team spirit within any organisation.”
The tournament will be run along World Cup lines, with teams drawing names of World Cup nations from a hat prior to the first pool games.
Local businesses are encouraged to field one or more squads of 10 players, with at least one female member per squad.
Each match will be 10 minutes each way followed by a barbecue at the clubhouse afterwards.
To celebrate England’s opening game against Fiji on Friday, September 18, teams will be invited back to the club for the presentation of awards and to enjoy the match with a pint.
Camelot’s commercial director Charles Riches said: “Local businesses have been supporting the club for years in many ways, including allowing players time off for matches, and it’s time that we gave something back.”
Additionally, the club has announced plans to revamp its players’ and supporters’ membership card scheme to encourage them to use the services of participating businesses.
