Tring swimmers performed well at the County Championships this month, clocking an impressive 23 PBs and six club best times from 37 swims.
The biggest success of the championships was Emma Killen’s 50m breaststroke gold. Having turned in third position, she stormed to victory in a lightning second 25m to become the 13 and under county champion.
Girls’ club captain Katy Colwell performed some outstanding sprints, in particular her 50m fly, while Chloe Woodruff managed PBs six of her races, as well as a club best time in the 100m backstroke. She was also within a second of her PB in seven other swims.
As ever the team support was phenomenal, helping each team member to perform to their best and achieve nine sprint PBs in a row.
This started with Nathan Gething’s PB in the 50m free, followed by five PBs in the 50m back by the girls’ team.
Chloe Woodruff, Emma Killen and Molly Bradley then pushed each other to achieve a PB each in the 50m free.
Marcia Billingham and Molly Bradley achieved PBs for the 100m and 200m backstroke, while Brianna Mazey set a PB in the 200m back.
Joe Judson, Annalise McKenna and Max Gething all gained valuable experience and will swim in many big championships in the future.
Head coach Johnny Bradley said: “It’s always exciting to see new club best times being set by the team, as this sets the bar even higher for everyone, and shows just what can be achieved with dedication and hard work”.
