Dacorum & Tring AC athletes played key roles in the success of Hertfordshire teams in the Regional Sportshall Finals – an indoor multi-event competition designed to help young athletes develop athletics-based skills.
Competing against teams from Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk, Cambs and Beds, six club members helped three Herts teams win their age groups, and will be making the trip to the UK finals in Manchester on April 25.
Sprint star Chenna Okoh, competing for the Herts U15 boys’ team, came away with the second-highest individual points score of the day, taking first overall in the standing long jump and four-lap race, and third in the speed bounce.
Team-mates Jackson Cowans and Dan Hopper competed in the standing triple jump and two-lap race, finishing third and fourth respectively.
The Herts U13 boys’ team also won their competition, thanks to strong performances from D&T athletes Josiah Barker and reserve Samid Ibrahim.
They will join Okoh, Cowans and Hopper on the trip to Manchester, along with Amelia Woodnick, a part of the winning Herts U13 girls’ squad.
Amy Thurgood helped the Herts U15 girls team to second place, just pipped to the post by Norfolk.
