The Little Hay Winter League – a pairs competition open to all sections of the club – has reached its climax after 10 rounds played throughout the winter.
The winners are the pair with the highest Stableford score over their best six rounds, and it was a very close finish with three pairs still in with a chance of victory coming to the end of the final round.
The second and third pairs couldn’t be separated, with both finishing on 254 points – Mick Whelan and Phil Jefferson were given second place on count-back, with Nick Brown and Andy Deaves placed third.
The winners with 256 points, however, were Chris Thomas and Ricardo Romita who were left to celebrate a hard fought victory.
Meanwhile, the ladies’ section have been playing in the Pearson Competition against other clubs within Hertfordshire. They have been successful in their first two matches, beating Dyrham Park 4-3 at home and triumphing 6-1 at West Herts.
