A misty and windy New Year’s Day run saw 166 parkrunners raring to get 2015 off to the very best start.
An impressive 78 runners were first timers to Tring, with at least 17 of these choosing New Year’s Day for their first ever parkrun .
New Year’s Day is the one day of the year when it is possible to run two parkruns in the same morning, with Aylesbury parkrun kicking off at 9am and Tring at 10.30am.
A total of 51 runners took on the double parkrun, including at least three who cycled between the two events and a couple of people who even ran.
This included Ian Kimpton who was not only fastest finisher at both events but also ran the nine miles from Aylesbury to Tring for the second event.
Joanne Johnson was the fastest lady at Tring and also quickest for the two races combined. Fastest male and female junior were Conor Richardson and Isabella Bidlake-Hull, who also both ran at Aylesbury.
New registrations have been very high over the holiday period and, just two days later, 134 runners returned for the normal Saturday run.
Lots of rain and mud challenged those trying to keep to their New Year’s resolutions; 46 were new to Tring and, for those who had been before, the cold and rain meant that only 11 managed to achieve PBs.
Conor Richardson was the fastest named runner and Katie Van de Linde was the first female, setting a new age category record.
