Mammoth unbeaten run finally comes to an end for the Tring men

All good things must come to an end, and that was the case for the Tring men’s first team as their 52-game unbeaten run in the league hit the buffers on Saturday against a strong Amersham & Chalfont side.

Tring had a good deal of the possession and looked dangerous at times, but couldn’t contain the opposition on the attack as A&C ran out 6-3 winners. With a single goal separating the sides after the break it could have gone either way, but A&C quickly gained control through an excellent individual goal, and the result wasn’t in serious doubt thereafter.

Meanwhile, the men’s 3 played some good hockey despite losing 4-1 to Wycombe.

Max Swift and Tom Grainger combined well to create some very good chances, but Tring were wasteful in front of goal.

Wycombe had some very quick forwards and they scored two late goals on the break as Tring pushed for an equaliser.

Elsewhere, Tring ladies 1s continued their unbeaten streak, making it six games without defeat as an exciting match against Hertford resulted in a 2-2 draw.
