The 12-year-old was competing against some of the best U13 drivers in the country, and it was his consistency which helped him to a top-two spot.

After a gruelling 11-race season, Luke’s record read six second-placed finishes, two thirds and one fourth place in the Grand Finals against 24 other drivers.

In every race weekend he made the Grand Final, and he held the lap record for his age group.

Luke said: “Every race was a challenge as every other driver wanted to be the next Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button!”

Lightning Luke is renowned for his overtaking, especially in the wet, and this was needed in the final race of the season where he took second place again in heavy rain conditions.

Luke has now gained his Motor Sport Association B Class licence and is looking forward to racing at more national events in 2015.

He has also secured his first sponsorship deal but he is always looking for further support.
