It’s a family affair as hundreds flock to second Tring parkrun

Among the runners were three generations of one family – Hayley Spry and her mother Claire have run previously on a number of occasions at Aylesbury parkrun and crossed the line together at this event.

They then repeated the final part of the course, accompanying Claire’s mother and Hayley’s grandmother, Gill Offlow, across the line as she finished just a few minutes behind them.

The family’s achievement reflects parkrun’s appeal across all ages and abilities. This week from oldest to youngest was an age span of about 60 years with runners completing the picturesque 5k course in times from 19 minutes to 57 minutes.

Glen Turner of Leighton Buzzard AC was the first person home in a time of 19:15, with Rosanna Iannone of Aylesbury AC the first lady in 22:55.

First junior male was Freddie Whale in 25:25, followed by brothers James and Ben O’Keeffe; all three improving their previous week’s times.

First junior female was Hannah Knight in 30:49, with Alice Reeve close behind, as both completed their first parkruns.
