It's a family affair for the Harriers at the Reading Half Marathon

Mother and daughter team Helen and Alice Cook flew the Gade Valley Harriers colours at the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday, taking on the fast, flat course that finished in the Madejski Stadium.

Helen crossed the line at the home of Reading Football Club in a respectable 2:16:40, with Alice just behind in 2:16:44.

Elsewhere, Mark Crabtree from GVH was in good form as he took on a very tough field of competitors in the Wilmslow Half Marathon. Pushing hard, Crabtree set a new PB of 1:14:59.

Also taking on the half marathon distance on Sunday was Tina Searle, who travelled to Richmond, Surrey for their 13.1-mile challenge. Searle enjoyed the fine weather and posted a time of 2:14:15.

In Windsor, Harrier Anthony Willcox tested his mettle at the Votwo 5km event. Willcox pushed hard and took first place, clocking a time of 19:50, while Jon Roberts took on the half marathon in Eton Dorney finished fifth overall in a speedy 1:22:43.

At London’s Hyde Park, Luca Ramusino and Emma Tipton took on the Hyde Park 10km race. Ramusino was first home for the team in 1:01:51, with club-mate Tipton crossing the line in 1:02:53.

The Gadebridge parkrun saw three Harriers representing the club, with Bill Hawes first back for the team in 20:31. Hawes was swiftly followed by James Thomson in 21:27 and Paul Reilly 24:03.

The top spot at St Albans parkrun was taken by Anthony James, who claimed first place in a new PB of 17:17.

Vince Ellerby was once again at his favourite Black Park parkrun, where he set a solid time of 19:48.

Travelling south to Folkestone in Kent was Dylan Wendleken who completed their parkrun in fourth overall place in a time of 18:43.

In the hills of the Tring parkrun, Tom North pushed home in 22:12, with team-mate Tracey Cotton posting a time of 25:05.

Watford’s Cassiobury Park saw Sian Hibbs returning from injury, and taking the first female finishing position in a quick 20:41. Club-mate Phil Mercer also took on the challenge and posted a time of 26:11.
