Cameron capped a fine individual display against the University of Gloucestershire All Golds last weekend by grabbing his sixth try of the campaign to help steer Hemel to the brink of the end of season playoffs.

Stags head coach Troy Perkins had earlier this week described the team’s performance against the All Golds as one of the best of the season, and Cameron was equally happy that the side seem to be hitting form at just the right time.

“I thought that our game against Gloucester was one of our best team performances in a long time,” he said. “We combined really well and had great shape and options throughout the entire team.”

Hemel complete their regular season programme with a short trip to Oxford RLFC on Saturday, and Cameron remains fully focused on the job in hand.

“We switched off for about 5-10 minutes which allowed Gloucester to score extra points so we need to focus on sticking to our game plan for the entire match and really finish off teams,” added Cameron.

“I’m really looking forward to playing against Oxford on Saturday, and hopefully we can continue to play the same way as we did last weekend, get a win and secure a playoff position.”

Victory at Oxford’s Iffley Road ground on Saturday would set up an away play off fixture at Gateshead Thunder, a challenge the amiable Aussie full-back says he would embrace.

“If we do make the playoffs, I’m not really worried about making the journey up to Gateshead,” he said. “It’s a long trip but it would be well worth it if we can get a win at their home ground.

“They are a good side we know that, we lost there a month ago but did not perform nearly as well as we know we can.

“The team remain confident in our own ability and believe we are capable of beating them if we play to our best.”
