Hat-trick hero Ollie fires Berko to victory against Harpenden

Only handful of games survived the bad weather at the weekend as the fixture list at Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club was hit hard.

One game which did survive was the men’s second team clash with Harpenden at Meadowcroft.

Earlier in the season, Berkhamsted had beaten the same opponents 5-0 so they went into the game feeling confident.

Sure enough, Berkhamsted won 7-0 with a fine all-round performance – with Ollie Bowman scoring a hat-trick in the process.

The win keeps the team second in their league table.

Elsewhere, the men’s first team notched up another win in their late game away at Harpenden.

The 5-0 victory was the team’s fifth league win on the spin and sees them solidify second place in the league table.

The only other men’s game played saw the fifth XI lose 4-0 in a six-pointer against Hertford.

Both the ladies’ second and third team matches games were called off for bad weather, leaving just the first XI in action.

They had a very tight game against Hertford but lost narrowly to a single goal.
