A golden double for Dacorum fighters at the UK Championships
The Hemel Hempstead three-man team of Daniel White, Thomas Carson and Gary Page won the men’s team kumite event in style and Jonathan Derland from Bovingdon did extremely well to win the boy’s kumite individual gold medal.
Daniel White 4th Dan narrowly lost out in the two individual events, being beaten by Adam Cockfield in both, and had to be content with two silver medals.

Hide AdThomas Carson 3rd Dan did well in taking two individual bronze medals in his first crack at the adult men’s events.
Individual bronze medals also went to George Hopkins (2) and Steven Barton, with the Hemel Hempstead children’s club also taking a bronze in their team kata event.
Adult competitor of the day was 2011 World Champion Cockfield, while the U16 competitor of the day trophy was taken by Joydeep Shil 1st Dan.
The Hemel Hempstead team lost out on the coveted shield for coming out top in the overall medal table, with Luton in top spot and London and Watford in joint second place, but it was still an extremely successful day for Dacorum.
