Gabby suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in 2013 but there were no signs of her injury as she - along with Hannah Whelan, Becky Downie, Claudia Fragapane, Kelly Simm and Ruby Harrold - put in a fine display.

In a high quality final, the British team showed great composure on the big stage to produce good routines throughout the competition, scoring 168.496 points to finish just short of their record fifth placing from Tokyo in 2011.

The team featured three World Championships debutantes in Gabby, Simm and Fragapane – all of whom excelled in the final.

Downie summed up the team mood after the event saying: “Overall we can be really pleased. It was an incredible atmosphere out there and we all held it together as a team and put in strong performances.”

The title was taken by the USA who comfortably outscored hosts China with Russia placing in bronze.
