Tring took the lead as early as the fifth minute as Vardy was played through, and the nippy forward outpaced the defence before calmly shooting past the helpless Wanderers keeper.

Tring continued to press forward, and Ollie Hogg doubled the hosts’ lead after 20 minutes as he lobbed the visiting keeper in style after good play from Luke Dunstan.

Clearly buoyed by their opening two goals, the on-song Tring side added a third just before the break with Hogg turning provider as he set up Vardy to double his personal tally for the night.

With the result already beyond doubt, Tring added gloss to the scoreline after 72 minutes when Dunstan passed to Jack Sunderland whose cross was tucked away at far post by Vardy for his hat-trick.

It was an impressive display from Athletic, and a much improved one from the performance which saw Julian Robinson’s side held to a 0-0 draw by a battling Burton side last Saturday.

Tring will be looking to build on Tuesday night’s win on Saturday when they return to SSML Premier Division action with a trip to FC Broxbourne Borough – a game that has been moved forward due to FA Cup fixture s.

Tring currently sit in ninth place in the table, with three wins from their opening five fixtures. A victory on Saturday would see them leapfrog eighth-placed Broxbourne who have played a game more.
