Trophy time for Tudors as Concord Rangers head to town

Hemel go into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory over fierce rivals St Albans on New Years Day, followed by a 2-2 draw with Wealdstone on Saturday.

The Tudors saw off Sutton United 1-0 in the first round of the Trophy, while Concord recorded a thumping 6-2 win at Barnet FC – and Hemel boss Dean Brennan is expecting a fiercely contested cup clash.

“I really like the Concord Rangers team,” said Brennan. “They are powerful and streetwise, very well organised, and they also have some very good players in their squad.

“It’s a game were we have to be very disciplined, while also staying very patient.

“Once again we will go and play our very attack-minded style, and we will need to play with maximum concentration.”

The Tudors have made a good start to life in the Conference South, but Brennan says he wants his team to kick on from here.

“At the halfway stage we have a stable, mid-table Conference South team at our club,” he added.

“I set high standards at Vauxhall Road for the players and staff and, to be totally honest, I am not happy with what we have done so far this season. We have plenty of areas where we need to improve.

“We have a great team spirit, but we still need to improve in our quality.”
