Tring beat Levy Green in SSML opener

Tring Athletic beat local rivals Leverstock Green 1-0 in both clubs' opening SSML Premier fixture on Tuesday night.

In a tightly contested match the visitors had the chance to open the scoring in the first half but were denied by keeper Jack Hopwood who saved a penalty from Curtis Donaldson.

Tring scored the winner six minutes from time following a quality move involving Sam Joliffe and Ryan Sturges with Chris Stapleton heading home the latter’s great diagonal cross into the box.

Tring have another tough match on Saturday when they travel to London Colney who finished runners-up last season.

Levy Green host St Margaretsbury on Saturday.
