Ryan Sturges struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Tring Athletic came back from 2-1 down to take all three points in a 3-2 win against Oxhey Jets.
Athletic opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Kieron Turner curled a superb free-kick into the far corner of the goal.
However, Jets hit back in the 39th minute when Lee Armitt checked inside before firing home with aplomb.
Following this set-back Athletic continued to create chances, with Turner unlucky not to score again at the end of the first half.
The second period began with Jets nearly scoring within a couple of minutes following a free-kick, and Athletic began to resort to pumping the ball high upfield in an attempt to combat the strong wind and bumpy pitch.
A number of times the tactic worked, with Tring’s quick forwards running onto the ball over the top – however they were again unable to capitalise on the chances.
Athletic brought on Chris Salmon and Adam Toone in the 65th minute for Turner and Ryan McMahon but, two minutes later, Jets took the lead.
Lee Stobbs was unable to control a loose ball, and Oxhey striker Armitt took on the Tring defenders before firing across keeper Jack Hopwood into the corner of the net.
Conceding this goal appeared to inspire Athletic, however, and they equalised just nine minutes later. Chris Vardy managed to beat the offside trap, and his blocked shot allowed Taylor Collins to blast the rebound into the goal.
The Jets had sustained a number of injuries during the second half, resulting in five minutes of stoppage time, and this proved vital for Athletic who scored the winner with only a few seconds left to play.
Sturges found himself in acres of space, checked inside, and fired high into the net from the edge of the box to snatch the three points for his side.
