Rovers through to next round of the cup with win over Caddington

Hemel Rovers produced a woeful display against Caddington in the West Herts Senior Cup even though there was a 5-0 margin in their favour at the end.

Early exchanges saw Hemel put plenty of pressure on their hosts but dreadful finishing from the forward line saw a host of chances going anywhere but the goal.

A breakthrough came courtesy of an own goal by an unlucky defender who nudged the ball back past his own goalkeeper and into the empty net.

A change of team at half-time saw Tom Porter immediately put his team 2-0 up with a ball lofted over the keeper and into the net.

The home side produced very few chances but when they did manage to get behind the Rovers defence Dan Brown kept them at bay with a smart reflex save.

Porter soon made it 3-0 after side footing home, before Ben Hammond came on for Rovers and quickly made his mark with a chip over the advancing keeper to put the game safe.

Five minutes later a ball was played through to Hammond who scored again with a delightful dink over the oncoming keeper.
