Kings Langley’s Southern League Division 1 Central fixture at Fleet Town was abandoned after 45 minutes last night due to a waterlogged pitch.
After the pitch was passed as playable at 3.45 pm, it began to drizzle again prior to kick-off as Kings made the long pre-Christmas journey to Fleet.
The teams, however, coped reasonably well with a heavy pitch and swirling wind, with Kings making all the opening running.
Switching back to a four-man back-line, they paraded another new signing, Immanuelson Duku - a striker from Chesham United.
A neat move on the floor that defied the conditions, resulted in Dean Hitchcock firing just over, before Mitchell Weiss took advantage of a central defensive error to collect a ball he had no right to and hammer it past Ryan Pryce.
Fleet striker and captain Simba Mlambo fired in a shot that took a wicked deflection off Danny Hutchins to hit the bar, but it was generally one-way traffic as Duku, Ryan Plowright and David Hutton all had good chances either saved or just wide.
The last bit of action before the rain came in earnest saw the debutant send in a shot that seemed to be going over before dipping and striking the bar, but the last few minutes of the half witnessed the rain coming down in the proverbial stair-rods and it was no surprise when the referee decreed that the collective drowned rats be treated to an early bath.
