Preview: Tudors ready to tackle the Hornets in Herts Senior Cup quarters

For the second consecutive Herts Senior Cup tie, this game follows an FA Trophy victory for Hemel – at the weekend The Tudors progressed to the last-16 of the competition with a convincing 3-1 win against Concord Rangers.

Dennis Oli opened the scoring in the first half with his second goal in three games, but Rangers equalised in the second half, before Oliver Hawkins continued his impressive run of form by scoring two goals to secure the win for the Tudors.

That makes it eight goals for Hawkins so far this season, doubling his league tally from the 2014/14 campaign.

The Tudors are now unbeaten at home in 14 league and cup games and are unbeaten home and away for seven consecutive games.

Hemel have scored 18 goals in the Herts Senior Cup so far this season, winning at home to Sawbridgeworth Town and St Margaretsbury 9-3 and 9-0 respectively to reach the third round.

Watford progressed to this round of the competition by winning 3-1 away at Royston in the second round, following a first round bye.

The Tudors and the Hornets last met in this competition in November 2009, when Hemel won 4-1 at Vauxhall Road.

Looking ahead at the game, Hemel boss Dean Brennan said: “I watched Watford U21s beat Leeds United 6-1 last week, so I know a little about them.

“Their philosophy is to pass the ball just like ours, so I’m expecting a good game for the supporters.”
