Preview: Tudors boss Brennan ready for ‘great test’ against Farnborough

The Tudors go into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory over Concord Rangers in the FA Trophy last weekend, and they have since had a seven-day break as their Herts Senior Cup clash with Watford was postponed.

Hemel currently sit 10th in the table with 33 points, but with games in hand on most of the sides above them.

The Tudors are now unbeaten at home in 14 league and cup games and are unbeaten home and away for seven consecutive games.

Farnborough, meanwhile, are struggling in 20th position in the table, and the Tudors are strong favourites to claim the three points.

However, looking ahead to the game in his programme notes, Tudors boss Dean Brennan says he is expecting a tough test.

“Our opponents Farnborough are in a good vain of form,” he said. “They knocked Maidenhead out of the FA Trophy on Monday night and fully deserved their 1-0 victory.

“They defended extremely well on that night; I also watched them beat Whitehawk recently and once again they defended really well, won 2-0 and kept a clean sheet.

“Farnborough have a young team that are prepared to put their bodies on the line to get results.

“Their players work extremely hard and they have a centre-forward who is one of the top goal scorers in our league.

“It’s another great test for our team; we have set some high standards over the last six weeks, we have to continue this to achieve the required standards if we are to win and take the points.

“Once again The Tudor army have been our 12th man, creating that special atmosphere during our games and we all appreciate it big time — so to you guys, keep up the great work!”

Off the field, the Tudors have announced that Matthew Saunders has left the club to join Conference Premier outfit Aldershot Town.

Brennan said: “On a negative front, Matthew Saunders has left us to join Aldershot; I always new it was going to be short term deal for us and Matty, but I have to say in the 12 weeks he has been with us his attitude and professionalism has been nothing but first class.

“I wish him all the best for the future and on behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to thank him for all his efforts while wearing a Hemel shirt.”
