Preview: Tudors boss Brennan demands full focus against in-form Weston-Super-Mare

Eighth-placed Hemel welcome an in-form Weston side to Vauxhall Road, with the seasiders having gone six games unbeaten in the National League South – a run stretching back to Mid-November.

Weston are still hovering dangerously above the relegation places, but Brennan knows that they are more than capable of causing an upset against the promotion-chasing Tudors.

“Weston are in good form and have won most of their games this month,” said Brennan. “It’s another important game because every game we try and win.

“Weston are a very attack-minded side with a lot of pace and a lot of dribbling ability. They try playing in the right way so fair play to them, we know their resources are limited but they are doing a good job down there.”

Despite their attacking prowess, Brennan doesn’t expect Weston to be gung-ho in their approach to the game, continuing: “I think they will still play on the counter-attack, but they can move the ball very well.

“They have got a lot of technical players, and the boy (Dayle) Grubb for me is one of the best players in the division – I’m surprised he hasn’t had a move.

“They’ve got good pace in the forward line and it’s like I say every week – you’ve got to be on your game to win in this division.”

The Tudors were poor in the first half last Saturday before recovering well in the second period to salvage a 1-1 draw with Hayes & Yeading, and Brennan is challenging his side to produce a full 90-minute display.

“Our focus has got to be good and we have got to stick to our gameplan,” he said. “We can’t wait until half-time to start playing to our gameplan like we did last week against Hayes. We’ve really got to be at it from the off and get at them.

“I’ve got no issue with losing or drawing matches, as long as we play our way with our philosophy and stick to our gameplan.”

Hemel have been plagued with injuries this season, and will again be missing a number of key men on Saturday.

“The biggest problem for us is consistency – the only consistency we’ve had is not being to be able to select the same team each week,” added Brennan.

“Once again this week there will be more changes to the team, which is not what we want, but they are enforced changes. The sooner we get a settled side week-in week-out, the better our results will be.

“We’ve had a lot of upheaval over the past few months and we are still eighth, which I think is by far our biggest achievement as a management team. The position we are in at the moment is unbelievable really.

“We’re now looking at it as a 19-game season, and taking it one game at a time, starting with Weston on Saturday.”

The Tudors will be without Nikolay Todarov (suspended), Ed Asafu-Adjaye (knee) and Dennis Oli (flu), while others are rated 50/50 including centre-backs Adam Bailey-Dennis and Louis John.
