Preview: Brennan urges Tudors to continue the playoff push against Bath

The Tudors currently occupy seventh place in the table, but have a game in hand on the sides sitting directly above them.

They returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win at lowly Staines Town on Tuesday night, and Brennan is looking for more of the same against Bath.

“For us personally it’s another fantastic opportunity in the sense that we are at home and we have got to make Vauxhall Road a fortress over the next 10 games,” said Brennan. “We are really looking forward to it.

“It’ll be a tough game – Bath are a good side who work super hard. They are a young side like ourselves and have had a fantastic run in the FA Trophy.

“We had them scouted on Tuesday against Basingstoke and, by all reports, they went in 2-0 down at half-time but they didn’t deserve that. Their performance deserved more out of the game.

“But every game is a must-win game for us. We don’t go into any game not wanting to win.

“In the end we settled for a point against Ebbsfleet last week but we have got to make sure that turns into a good point.

“When we played Bath at their place earlier in the season we had two men sent off, they had a dubious penalty, and we had a great opportunity in the last minute. I didn’t think we played great that night but we didn’t deserve to lose.

“Saying that, we can’t have any heartbreak stories this weekend, it’s another must-win game if we want success.”

The Tudors have been hard to beat of late, and Brennan is pleased with the battling qualities his side has shown.

“I take encouragement from the second half clean sheet against Ebbsfleet when we defended really well, and also from the way we defended at the end of the game against Staines as a unit,” said the Hemel boss.

“I thought our workrate and the way we pressed was brilliant. If we can take those performances into this weekend then I think we won’t be far from winning.

“I think all teams just take each game as it comes and we will be focussing on Bath and how we can hurt them. Hopefully with a bit of luck we can win the game.

“Our pitch is terrible but hopefully we can use that to our advantage and get our home league form back to a little bit like it was last season which was unbelievable.

“We’ve been quite successful since I’ve been here, and hopefully that experience of success can help us with the run-in.

“If you look at our last 13 league games, we’ve only lost one, and hopefully that sort of form will be good enough to get us into the playoffs.

“We’ve re-evaluated our points target that we think we will need to get into the playoffs and if we can achieve that, then we will be there – it’s that simple.”
