A perfect ten for Hemel Rovers in the West Herts Senior Cup

Hemel Rovers cruised through to next round of the West Herts Senior Cup after whitewashing Glenn Sports 10-0.

Rovers went in front afafter 15 minutes with a well taken goal by Neal Perrin when he chased a ball down the middle, beating three defenders before expertly chipping the outcoming keeper.

Although the visitors battled hard for the full 90 minutes, they hardly raised a shot on the Rovers goal.

Before the break, further goals from Mylie Cash (2), Conor Deadman and Kevin Price made it a 5-0 half-time scoreline.

Glenn kept Rovers at bay in the second half until the 70th minute when Sam Flood found the net.

This signalled a collapse, with Deadman adding two further goals, and Alex McCarthy and Callum Jones completing the scoring.

Elsewhere, the Rovers third team grabbed a 0-0 draw at London Colney Blues to get the point they needed to move through to the next phase of the West Herts Junior cup.

Rovers’ reserve match was abandoned after 27 minutes as a seriously gashed leg to keeper Andy McFarlane meant that he could not be moved from the pitch until an ambulance arrived. Rovers were leading 2-1 at the time.
