Kings Langley slip to narrow midweek defeat at Egham Town

The hosts got off to the perfect start when a cross by Batram Pashaj was steered past Xavi Comas with just six minutes on the clock.

To their credit Kings responded quickly and some smart interplay between Ferrari and Weiss ended with the latter planting the ball just wide of the post.

Egham for their part remained a constant threat, prepared to chase down any opportunity.

The match was turning into an end-to-end encounter and back came Kings when Weiss brilliantly controlled a long Deaton pass, only to be thwarted by a last ditch tackle when about to pull the trigger.

Ferrari was also making his presence felt and was unlucky when cutting inside to fire a blistering left foot drive just over.

To supplement Kings’ attacking threat Manny Duku was introduced in the 38th minute and was quickly into his stride as Kings finished the half in the ascendancy.

In the second half, Kings continued to forage for opportunities but the vital breakthrough to restore parity remained elusive.

Egham remained a threat throughout, though, with swift counter attacks keeping the King’s defence at full stretch.

It was from one of these offensives that Matthew had a great chance to increase the host’s advantage, but headed over.

Kings strived for the equaliser and Weiss again went close after combining well with Hutton.

Kings were now all out in search of the equaliser, with the classy Hutton creating several openings which Langley just failed to convert.

Both Ferrari and Duku were stretching the home defence and Duku was very unlucky with a great overhead effort that was goal bound until Egham’s Neville bravely intervened.

Kings continued to press right until the end but Egham remained firm to secure a hard earned but deserved win.
