Kings Langley keep the winning run going as Stotfold feel the force

Kings went ahead after 12 minutes when a Lee Burgoyne break on the left saw his vicious low cross turned into his own net by Michael White.

Marcus Brown and Sean Herr had shots off target for the visitors, while an interpassing move between Daryl Atkins and Connor Toomey resulted in a good save from Adam Harpur.

Minutes before the break, Kings grabbed the vital second goal when Dean Hitchcock’s cross was headed on by Stuart Deaton into the path of Mitchell Weiss.

Harpur pulled off a superb save, but the ball was only partially cleared and Weiss was in no mood to be denied again, blasting a low shot into the far corner.

The striker was in the thick of the action again after the interval, heading against the bar from a few yards out after Atkins’ speed had beaten the defence.

But he atoned again from the following corner, stabbing a Toomey pass home in a goalmouth melee to make it 3-0.

When Jack Johnson emphatically ended a flowing move, finding the net through a crowded box, it seemed the recent familiar script was being held to, but the strike was chalked off for a foul throw at the start of the move.

Maybe that caused a break in Kings’ concentration, but a huge throw in which cleared the far post, found its way to Marcus White, who used his space to beat Charlie Crowley for the first goal scored against Langley since the end of September.

It was the first time the defence had been breached in over 12 hours’ playing time, and ended a run of seven successive clean sheets.

If Stotfold sensed a lifeline, it was quickly snatched away when a long through-ball had to be headed clear by the outcoming Harpur, outside the box, and Danny Hutchins calmly lashed an unerringly accurate shot into the unguarded goal from all of 30 yards.
