Hemel Town on the hunt for the next generation of young talent

Hemel Hempstead Town FC is ready to launch an eagerly anticipated full-time academy programme starting in September this year.

The two-year Football & Education Programme, which will be held on site at Vauxhall Road, will be open to this summer’s Year 11 school leavers.

The programme consists of a BTEC National Diploma course, coaching from Tudors first team manager Dean Brennan, games against professional club academy sides in a new midweek league, and real progression pathways for football and education development.

The education part of the course is the most critical, as this presents an opportunity for those with five expected GCSE pass grades (A-C) to earn a recognised extended BTEC Diploma in sports science.

Upon successful completion, this diploma is equivalent to the necessary A Level requirements for potential university entry.

Ben Pattie is the most successful academy graduate to date, with the youngster having been snapped up by Premier League side QPR last season.
