Tudors boss Dean Brennan hailed his side for a ‘professional performance’ after they cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Havant & Waterlooville at Vauxhall Road this afternoon.
The Tudors got the job done with goals from Louis John and Ogo Obi either side of half-time, with Havant offering very little in the way of attacking intent.
If you had offered me 2-0 before the game, I would have absolutely snapped your hand off so we are delighted with the victory.Hemel Town FC manager Dean Brennan
“It was a very professional performance,” said Brennan after the game. “We’ve been asking for clean sheets because if we get clean sheets we will win games of football.
“We were really stretched today and the team selection wasn’t made until just before kick-off, but it was a great all-round squad performance.
“The supporters were excellent as always, but it does help when you are winning games of football. It was a great victory for us and we are all buzzing, we are delighted with it.
“Havant are a very good side with a lot of quality, but they probably had one good chance whereas we created numerous goalscoring opportunities.”
The Tudors went in front in fortuitous circumstances as man of the match Daniel Pappoe saw his off-target shot cannon onto fellow centre-back John and into the net, but Brennan felt his side were good value for their lucky break.
“There’s an old Irish saying which is ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get’ and I do believe that,” he said. “I thought we worked harder than them in the first half and we ran all over them.
“Their confidence is low so we wanted to be right in their faces, and we knew that we had to be right on top of our game, which I thought we were.
“If you had offered me 2-0 before the game, I would have absolutely snapped your hand off so we are delighted with the victory.”
