Hemel Rovers put in a top class performance at Westmill FC to win 4-0 and book a meeting with Harpenden Rovers in the final of the Herts Junior Cup.

The hosts started very strongly and tried to put Rovers under pressure for the first 15 minutes of the semi-final clash but were thwarted on every occasion by Hemel captain Joe Philips and his well-marshalled back line.

It was Rovers who took the lead on 20 minutes after Conor Deadman was hauled down just inside the penalty area and Neal Perrin gave the home keeper no chance with the resulting spot kick.

Hemel went 2-0 up after 30 minutes when a Deadman cross was met with a thumping header by Perrin into the Westmill net.

A minute after the break, Rovers almost scored again as a Tom Porter header was just about saved underneath the crossbar.

The more the game went on, the more Rovers got on top, and it came as no surprise when Deadman made it 3-0 on the hour as he netted from the tightest of angles after a superb pass over the home defence by Ben Hammond.

Hemel completed the scoring in the last minute when another superb pass from out on the touchline by Hammond allowed Kevin Price head the ball into the net for 4-0.

With every Rovers players at their best, man of the match was hard to choose but it was just edged by the impressive Hammond.
