Hat-trick from Nield sends Kings Langley Ladies through in the cup

Early efforts from Amy Earthrowl, Kim Nield and Mary Hogan didn’t breach the net, but just after the half hour mark, Hogan’s shot on the turn was gathered by the keeper, before Nield converted from the spot after a handball in the area.

Sophie Jackson’s run on the left saw a great cross go into the area, but could not be converted, while Nicole Barrett saw a header go just wide of the mark before half-time.

With a slim advantage going into the second half, the home side dug in.

On 52 minutes Nield broke free and shot wide, while debutante Amber Harris saw her deflected effort skim off the crossbar.

On the hour mark the game was level when former Kings player Hannah Franklin broke free and scored.

This spurred Kings to step up a gear, which they did – Hogan drawing a double save out of the keeper, the second being a one-handed save right on the line.

On 73 minutes, another handball infringement saw Nield convert from the spot for a second time to restore Kings’ lead, and two minutes later she sealed her hat-trick and the win; breaking free to slot past the keeper.

Kings Langley Ladies are next in action on Sunday, October 26 when they return to league action with a home game against Garston Ladies FC 96.
