A local charity that provides professional support and care for people with life-shortening illnesses, the hospice is close to many associated with Berkhamsted Athletic.

A good attendance of more than 100 spectators turned out on a sunny afternoon to enjoy the on-field action, which saw Athletic take on a Southcott RA Legends Team.

Former Watford, AFC Bournemouth, AC Milan and England player Blissett was on hand to lend his support and get the game under way.

The match was played in good spirit and saw Berkhamsted run out clear winners, with six goals scored and none conceded.

However, more important than the result was the amount raised – just under £1,800. This is a great credit to Paul and Emily Toms who were instrumental in setting up the game and organising the post-match entertainment which included a comedy night headlined by Del Strain.

The club thanked Berkhamsted FC – and chairman Steve Davis in particular – for hosting the event, as well as praising the support of Blissett, Del Strain and Southcott RA.

Athletic also extended their thanks to the programme sponsors; Eastwood of Berkhamsted, The Snow Centre, PLE Electrical, GS Cleaning Services Ltd, TPB PAT Testing and Awards of London.
