Football for a fallen hero: remembrance match for soldier, 24

The fourth memorial football tournament in honour of a soldier who was killed by a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan will be held on Sunday.

Corporal David Barnsdale, from 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), was killed on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, while clearing a patrol area in Helmand province.

He was just 24 years old.

The football match in Dave’s memory will be held at Tring Corinthians Football Club in the town’s Icknield Way HP23 4BJ.

There will be a bar, barbecue, raffle, cake stall and a bouncy castle and face painting for the kids. Dave’s parents Steve and Wendy said: “Come along and enjoy the day and help raise funds for this year’s nominated charity Combat Stress.”
