Berko took the lead in the 18th minute when Josh Chamberlain found himself free, deep in the penalty area and shot past Ant Ladyman in the Langley goal.

For the first half hour Berko were playing flowing football with Lewis Rodrigoe prominent in midfield. However, the visitors equalised when Ben Barnes found one shot too hard to hold and Jack Johnson fired home the leveller from the rebound.

Ex-Watford striker Alex Campana beat the defensive wall with a free-kick that gave Barnes no chance to put the visitors in front with quarter of an hour remaining. Berko brought on reserve team top scorer Jay Caines for his debut but did not create many chances to level the scores.

It was Langley substitute Matt Bateman that popped up to clinch the tie with a shot in the last minute of normal time.

Kings will be at home to London Lions or Hertford Town in the next round.

On Saturday Berko go to bottom of the table Ampthill Town hoping to pick up another three league points and boost their goal difference.

On Tuesday Berko go to fellow SSML Premier Division team Hoddesdon Town in the second round of the Herts Senior Cup.

Kimpton Rovers send their first team to play Berkhamsted’s reserves in the Herts Intermediate Cup on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
