Corinthians battle back to earn draw with Aylesbury

A depleted Tring Corinthians team continued their encouraging pre-season form with a draw against a strong Aylesbury FC Reserve side at Icknield Way.

With a shortage of natural strikers, Tring were forced to play Trevor Gibbs up front and, for 70 minutes, a goalless draw looked likely in a game of few chances.

Stand-in keeper Martin Travers was looking comfortable in goal and the Tring back-four were looking accomplished.

However, on 71 minutes David Whicker dallied on the ball and Tring were punished as an Aylesbury striker netted on the rebound following an excellent Travers save.

This prompted an excellent spell of Tring pressure. Barrett and Howe both fired wide when clean through, while Gibbs missed a header when it seemed easier to score.

On 88 minutes Tring got the equaliser their play deserved as Howe put Wheeler-King through and he rounded the keeper to slot home.
