Terry Dixon, 24, was tipped to make his mark on the Premier League after being called up to the Republic of Ireland senior side by then manager Steve Staunton, in 2006.

However, a series of injuries since then have seen Dixon tumble through the leagues, and he is now hoping to kick-start his career at Berkhamsted.

“He was once described as the Irish Wayne Rooney and he is a really nice guy,” said Berko boss Mick Vipond. “ We want to help him get back on track.”
