Cockfosters get the better of Tring as defensive errors prove costly

The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Tring failed to deal with a long ball and Ben Hammond scored.

They doubled their lead just before the hour mark after another defensive mistake, leaving Brian Mooney with a simple tap-in.

Athletic played quite well and created a host of chances but poor finishing and some terrific goalkeeping from former Tring man Sam Styles kept the hosts scoreless until the 94th minute when Ollie Butler scored.

That was merely a consolation, however, as by then it was too late for Tring to mount a comeback.
