Canaries striker signs for Hemel

Hemel's summer signings have continued with goal getter Jonny McNamara arriving at Vauxhall Road.

McNamara was top scorer at Southern League Premier outfit Hitchin Town last season with 17 goals.

Tudors boss Dean Brennan was delighted with the signing and told the Gazette: “He’s a player we’ve had our eye on over the last two seasons.

“We want him to keep doing what he’s been doing at Hitchin and at Arlesey before that.

“He’s a goalscorer from wide positions and he works his socks off. He’s a player who gets in the right place at the right time.”

Canaries manager Mark Burke told Hitchin’s website: “Jonny is an exciting young prospect that has served this club with great distinction and I am sure he will rise to the challenge of playing at a higher level.

“I would like to thank him for his services as he has been a great character to have within the squad and I have enjoyed working with him over the past two years. “

A Hitchin club statement confirmed an approach was made by Hemel in May and they added: “We would like to place on record how professional and respectful Hemel have conducted themselves throughout negotiations.”
