“Cup runs don’t come around often, so we have to make sure we enjoy it. I’m pretty sure this is the furthest Hemel have ever been in the FA Cup, so that’s pleasing,” he said. “It should breathe some confidence around the place too.

“In the cup it’s all about the result and being in the draw for the next round was our main objective.

“Going to Chippenham was a potential banana skin for us, but I felt we played well enough to win the game comfortably in the end.”

The Tudors boss reserved special praise for youngster Leon Lobjoit who impressed after coming off the bench.

“It’s always pleasing when you introduce young players into the first team and I was delighted for Leon Lobjoit who come of the bench and scored,” said Brennan. “Leon has really impressed us in our U21 side and my philosophy is to develop young, hungry, talented footballers.”

Brennan is now setting his sights on a return to form in the league, and said: “I know we have a very honest group of players, they have all set high standards for themselves individually and collectively.

“There is one thing I know with our lads; they will all work their socks of for each other and once we keep that appetite our league form will improve.”
