Boars beat the Old Boys in the cup

AFC Boars are through to the fourth round of the Herts FA Sunday Senior Cup after grinding out a 2-1 victory over Nicholas Breakspear Old Boys.

In a tight game, BSFL representatives Boars got the job done with goals from Jay Austin and Curtis Donaldson.

Meanwhile, Apsley kept their Herts FA Sunday Intermediate Cup dreams alive with a 5-3 win at Cheshunt Town in the third round, Jack Wood (2), Sam Budgen (2) and Ollie Gurney on target.

There were plenty of teams in BSFL Steve Norwood Challenge Cup third round action, with Leather Bottle beating Boxmoor 3-2 after extra-time thanks to Will Wall, Alex Marshall and Mark Broome.

Ryan Cole hit a treble and Connor Deadman was also on target as Doves United beat Robin Hood 4-0, while Flaunden had Matt Bateman (2), Ben Adams and Max Farrelly to thank for a 4-3 win over Drays.

Everett Rovers booked their place in the next round as they saw off Comets Sports Club 4-3 on penalties after the game finished 3-3; Reece Cameron, Danny Tearle and Harry Gilbert netting for the victors.

Back in league action, Gossoms End were 2-1 winners over Potten End in BSFL Division One as Tom Kelly and Matt Pearson found the net. The other game in the division finished goalless between FC Intervino and Jam United.

Sporting Oddfellows were big winners in BSFL Division Two, thumping Comets Reserves 3-0 through Ben Roberts, Greg Goodchild and Rahul Thaker, while Asa Foster (2) and Jamie Evans earned a 3-1 win for The Queens Head over Greenacres Tavern.

Old Bell Athletic beat Landrovers 4-3 with efforts from Lavvi Zgimbau, Dave Browne, Daniel Ciurea and Steve Clarke, while Berko Athletic Res won by the same scoreline against Berko Tornadoes Res – Scott Cook, Ricky Shepherd, Jonny Lewis and an own-goal doing the damage.

It was a day to remember for Marcus Tower in BSFL Division Three as he scored six times in Ollys Athletic’s 10-1 thrashing of GB Precision, with Kenny Harrington (2), Sean Lane and Nick Jackson completing the rout.

Greenacres II Res thumped Victoria United 5-2 with goals from Sam Meunier (2), Robbie Bates, Courtney Hart and Sam Rawlings, while Berko Tornadoes A won 2-1 at Hemel Harriers thanks to Michael Dance and Charlie Rance.
