77 goals in just 11 games as Sunday League sides make it a weekend to remember

There were an incredible 77 goals scored in just 11 matches in a crazy morning of action in the Berkhamsted Sunday Football League.

The high scoring theme of the week began in the Premier Division when AFC Boars beat Doves United 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller.

Mark Burfoot notched a hat-trick for Boars, with Sonny French and Curtis Donaldson also on target, while Adiel Mannion (2) and Stefan Owen-Edwards got the goals for Doves.

Flaunden edged out Comets Sports Club by the odd goal in five as Lee Butler (2) and Ed Canham earned a 3-2 victory, while efforts from Jon Carey and Lee Franklin ensured that the points were shared in a 1-1 draw between Berko Athletic and Park Rangers.

The result of the day came in Division One where Jam United beat Apsley Athletic 10-7 in an incredible game that featured 17 goals and four hat-tricks.

Scott Grimes (4), Neil Patel (3), Luke Reynolds, Jonny Cox and Ryan Pereira were the marksmen for United, with Andrew Grew (3), Jack Wood (3) and an own-goal doing the damage for Athletic in a game both defences will want to quickly forget.

Landrovers were the biggest winners in Division Two as they thumped The Midland 5-1, with a brace from Jack Quoroll and further strikes from Rob Chambers, Sam Street and Pat Rushton.

Both of the other games in the division ended 4-1, with Adrian Keane (2), Rob Hopkins and Sean Leahey striking for Clarkwood against Adeyfield, and Mike Gray (2), Ben Darby and Bradley Hedges netting for FC Intervino at Hemel Athletic.

There were goals galore in Division Four, with at least four scored in each of the four fixtures.

AFC Saints shaded Gade in an 11-goal epic, with Bradley Turner hitting a hat-trick and Matthew Flowers, Tom Colclough and Owen Jones completing the scoring for the Saints.

Old Bell Athletic drew 4-4 at home to Hemel Tudors, with Lavvi Zgimbau (2), Daniel Ciurea and Reece Canning netting for the hosts, and Jamie Long (2) and Josh Leeson (2) replying for the visitors.

Goals from The Old Bellgate trio Charlie Hebborn, Kirren Taylor and Neil Goodchild were cancelled out by Boxmoor’s Andy Scott, George Gunnel and Adam King in a 3-3 draw, while Adeyfield Reserves and Echoes drew 2-2.

Sam O’Sullivan and Will McLean did the damage for Adeyfield, with Luke Wood and James Bundy getting the goals for Echoes.
