Dynamic duo are ready for a shot at glory in Morocco

The expenses-paid trip is reward for the duo’s efforts in battling their way through local rounds and a regional final at Manor House GC, Castle Combe, in a competition open to any golfer who is a member of an affiliated club with an officially recognised handicap.

Craig Parker, 31, and six-handicapper Ben Scott, 42 – both members at Erewash Valley GC – will enjoy complimentary return flights to Morocco, six-nights’ accommodation at a five-star hotel, and five rounds of golf, at the prestigious Royal Golf Dar Essalam.

The course hosted the last Moroccan Open in 2001 – won by Ryder Cup star Ian Poulter – as well as the Tony Jacklin Casablanca.

Looking ahead to next month’s event, 16-handicapper Parker said: “As a pair, matchplay suits us and we’re looking forward to going to Morocco – we’ve never played out there before.”

Four competitions culminate at the grand final: singles, pairs, mixed pairs and senior pairs, with a total of 32 golfers from across the UK ultimately fighting it out for the titles.

Each pair will have played up to four qualifying rounds merely to reach the regional final, with the knockout rounds taking place between June and September, and the regional finals in October.
