A dusting of snow makes it a chilly morning at Tring parkrun

Runners were pleasantly surprised with a light dusting of snow at Saturday’s Tring parkrun, making it the third snowy run in the past six weeks.

Runners from as far away as Cheshire and Maidstone, plus many locals, formed the 114-strong group that completed the 5km loop of the scenic park.

The melting snow made conditions a little muddy, but 15 runners still managed to record personal bests, with Alison Williment making the biggest improvement with a reduction in her time of more than one minute.

Impressively, Paul Myatt managed to continue his record of consecutive PBs with his seventh improvement.

At the front of the field, David Maisey of Vale of Aylesbury AC was first over the line in 20:34, followed by Tom North of Gade Valley Harriers and then junior runner James Bailey of Dacorum & Tring AC.

For the ladies, Nazreen Deller was the fastest finisher in 26:49, closely followed by Kate Bailey of Dacorum & Tring AC. Liz Cundale was third.

Half-term holidays meant that many more juniors were also taking part in this week’s race, a lot of them running with family members.

James Bailey, Dom Evans and Rob Needleman were the fastest boys, while Isabella Bidlake Hull, Ella Highton and Megan Savage were the speediest girls.

Ella is the first person to win a t-shirt which has been solely earned at Tring, having run a hilly total of 50k by completing the course 10 times.
