Derby day joy for Berkhamsted ladies against Tring

The ladies’ section led the way for Berkhamsted at the weekend with a number of excellent results – the highlight being a Dacorum derby victory that saw the seconds record a thumping 4-0 victory against Tring.

Goals came from Georgie Barnett, Chloe Alecock, Ashlie Tridgell and captain Stef Abson, while the player of the match was Kate Jenkinson.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ third team are steadily starting to show some form with yet another win, this time away against Hertford.

Debut goals were scored by Ella Gardener and Molly Jarvis, with experienced Rachel Vickery scoring the third.

The men’s third XI provided the biggest win of the weekend with an 8-0 drubbing of Potters Bar. The very youthful Berko team were outstanding in all areas with all eight goals coming from youngsters.

Jake Alderson netted twice, Dom Peachey and Will Hanwell bagged one apiece, with the other four goals coming from man of the match Will Goodwyn who also provided three assists.

Elsewhere, the men’s seconds had a fantastic game away against top of the table Bishop’s Stortford.

The match finished with a 4-4 draw and Berko can feel very unlucky they didn’t get the win as the opposition umpires apologised for two bad decisions that led to Stortford scoring two of their goals.

The men’s first team had a real game of two halves and were very unlucky to lose 4-3 against a resilient Royston side, having led 3-1 at half-time.

The ladies’ firsts continued their staccato season with another draw against Chiltern, while the men’s fourth XI made the tough journey away to Royston where they lost 3-1. Man of the match and goalscorer was Ollie Webb.

The men’s fifths were up against a very strong Winchmore Hill and Enfield team but lost just 2-0 thanks to a brilliant performance from man of the match and central defender Brett Kelley.

To complete the club’s fixtures, the ladies’ fourths had a friendly match against a strong Burnham side and went down 4-2.
